Well, since Myspace is down... This'll go here til then.
Zack got off around 1:45 or so on Friday morning, came over to my house, got my stuff, went to his house, got his stuff, and we were on the road to Palo Duro Canyon by 4am. Go us!
We drove thru some really creepy towns on the way there (about an 8 - 10 hour drive but we made a few stops so it was about 11 hours). We saw a lit up cross on the hillside and it was really scary. Some towns were so damn religious I was afraid I'd be killed if they found out I was atheist. There were god billboards and church billboards everywhere. O_o Zack hit the 100,000 mile mark on his car on the way so he stopped to take a picture of that. Dork. =]
Then we hit a McDs free zone for like... 2 - 3 hours... so we FINALLY went to Whataburger... And of course, just a couple miles away was a McDs. ._.; Stupidness. Oh well, Whataburger had a goooood biscuit. So yeah. There's like no cell phone service anywhere out there. Lol.
Sooo we went to a Wally World in that one town and got our supplies. We got 2 pwnsome mushroom chairs too. Yay! Then we drove around the Texas Tech [Lubbock, TX] campus a bit but that was rather dull because of the damn security guards. Rawr. So we just started back up towards Canyon and Palo Duro. Got there around 3pm and got our tent site. Drove down into the canyon (it's about 7 miles from the rim to our site) and set up our tent amongst a bunch of ants, flies, and other icky bugs.
Ummm... We tried to nap but being like 120 degrees in the tent and a mere 100 outside, that didn't go so well. We drove around the park and went to the visitor center at the top, then made phone calls while we were up there (no cell phone service in the canyon). Then on the way back down into the canyon... Dun, dun, dun! We stop at the bathroom, go, and get back in the car... It doesn't start. =P
So... We go ask some nice church guys to help and a dude brings his huge ass truck and tries to jump Zack's car. Nothing. So he gives us a ride to our tent and we go to sleep. =3 Rowdy, annoying neighbors too. But the campsite was about 5 miles from the abandoned car at the bathrooms.
Oh yeah, and there were 2 turkeys that lurked around the campsite area we were staying in. Yup, yup!
Anyways, I woke up at 6:45am and we walked to the bathroom (no car, remember?). We went to a close bathroom tho, so it wasn't a 5 mile walk. =3 There were bunnies playing! =] Eee! Anyways... After that we went to the park host's RV and she gave us a ride to the top (it's 7 miles, did I mention, from our site to the top, all uphill). Sooo we called car places and blah blah blah. Some guys came, jumped the car with a little box, and we drove out. Turns out, it was just a dead battery. -.-
Sooo then we went back to the Canyon aaand tried to nap unsuccessfully again. So I left Zack and went for a walk. Went about 2 miles in 30/40 minutes and stopped for a rest. A nice couple saw me walking and brought me a bottle of water. =] I hadn't planned on going that far, lol. So I sat there waiting for Zack to pick me up and after about 25 minutes I started walking back. Then the park host saw me and gave me a ride back. Zack was just sitting around wondering where I was... O_o He said he was about to go find me. Mew.
Then we went driving around and taking pictures (which will be in a later post, trust me, we have some awesome pics!). We did about 1/2 a mile hike. -.- *sigh* Then we went to shower and went to the Texas show. It was aweeesome. The first gunshot made Zack jump about 5 feet! >=] Hehe. And the lightning made everyone jump... That was nifty. And the dancing was just awesome. So yeah, then there were fireworks! Yay!
After the show we went to sleep.
Woke up the next morning (today), packed up, and left.
Drove back, stopped at DQ for lunch and then looked at some windmills. xD And oil thingies.
Now we're about to go thru the pics... Yay.
Mew.
